How many of you dream of one day getting to build your own stable? I know I do… A bit too often probably. First you dream up the exterior, American barn or English stables. What type of brick to use. Or should it be a wooden stable á la Scandinavia? What windows & doors should I go for? Then you get to the interiors. What colour scheme works best with horses? Is there Feng Shui for horses? Where to put the tack room? I must fit a sofa in the tack room for the dogs to sleep on. What sofa to choose.. And the list goes on! Here are a few of the stables that gets my mind going… If you’ve got a dream stable that you dream of let me know!
The Queen of America, Martha Stewart, has a pretty impressing stable for her Friesians.
Mellow yellow, old school green or light and modern
Bricks and stones.
Tack rooms, old and new…
Perhaps your stable needs an office?
My family built a stable in an old barn a few years ago in Sweden (too bad I can’t get the stable to move over here). The company who supplied the interiors (stable boxes etc) came out and took some photos for their brochure and website. It puts a smile on my face everytime I see my mothers Welsh Mountain mare Rosie (who dissapears in that big stable) and my then three year old mare Queen of Clubs, who now lives in Northern Ireland, in the photos.
So, what’s going into your dream stable?
